MACBETH
POWER AND FURY

Uncontrollable ambition, hallucinations, confrontations, media manipulations, murders and political paranoia are played out in an promenade version of Shakespeare's text adapted for the street by Sarah Harper, Susan Haedicke and  Pascal Laurent. Passionate and exuberant, the actors play and dance to a rock and Celtic music score through the audience and above their heads.

In a combat zone, during an undefined world war, English, French and Spanish voices weave Shakespeare's poetry, while a cabaret comedian, the doorman, serves as our contemporary guide through the minefield of the race for power.

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing"

William Shakespeare.

Choreography and drums, buffoonery, political and poetic speeches, flags, mist, fires, animal masks, headlights, loud music, fire and lightning. A world of civilized barbarians created for 6 actor-dancers on stilts, 1 pyrotechnician, 2 mobile tanks and their pilots.

(shadow play on the theme of Macbeth by children from Gennevilliers)
